Network and Win

While networking over social media has many advantages, traditional in-person networking is still an incredibly effective method. There’s nothing that quite compares with meeting people face-to-face and explaining what you do.

Networking events are held in towns and cities worldwide every week. Most are free or inexpensive to attend, and they represent an invaluable way to promote your reviews. The whole purpose of the event is for people to connect and exchange services. So you don’t need to be bashful about promoting what you have to offer...that’s the whole point!

Here are some ways to find good events to attend.

Business Network International (BNI)

As the name suggests, BNI is a global network of professionals who meet up to network and swap services. The organization has over 280,000 members in over 10,000 local groups (chapters) worldwide. Each year, some $16 billion of new business is generated through BNI, so this organization has real potential.

You can use the website to find a chapter near you, then go along and check things out. You will usually find a friendly group of people keen to hear about you and what you do.

BNI member Devendra Rampersaud says, “In the six years since I joined BNI, the business has grown from two of us to 13 people, and BNI has been an essential and integral part of that. We’ve benefited enormously from great referrals and qualified introductions, as well as very fruitful collaborations.”

Chambers of Commerce

Another great option is to join your local Chamber of Commerce. You will find these in every city and most large towns dedicated to helping local entrepreneurs succeed.

With the help of Google, you can easily find the Chamber of Commerce nearest to you. Then check their website for news of upcoming networking events. Most chambers organize monthly events; some may host several per week.

You can be sure of meeting high-earning executives at these events. This means they have plenty of disposable income to spend on products, so you may earn some nice commissions from their visits.

Meetup

Here’s another fantastic option for finding cool networking events to attend. Meetup exists to help people connect and do interesting things. Here you will find lots of social events, business meetups and other get-togethers.

You can find many networking events here. Just search for ‘networking’ and Meetup will show you a list of groups and upcoming events near you.

As well as being good for networking, Meetup is a great place to make friends, too. So you can promote your reviews and liven up your social life at the same time. Enjoy!

Facebook Events

You may think of Facebook as being all about meeting online, but it’s great for making ‘real life’ connections, too. Thousands of meetups are posted through Facebook Events every week, giving you lots of opportunities to connect.

To find interesting possibilities, log into Facebook and look for Events in the left navigation column. Facebook will then show you a list of upcoming, local events. Scroll through and check out the ones that seem relevant to you.

Host Your Own Event

Attending other people’s events is a great way to go, but you can also host your own meetings. That way, you get to create the experience you truly want, plus you can attract the right kind of people, too.

An easy way to do this is to become an organizer on Meetup. You can create a group for free, then organize events within your group. There’s no limit to what kind of meetup you can create, so be creative. Getting your new community off the ground is as easy as clicking on ‘Start a new group.’ on your Meetup dashboard.

Once you’ve created the group, it’s time to organize your first event. You will need a venue, but there are lots of free and low-cost options for this. Places like community centers and libraries will often allow you to host events for free. Bars and restaurants may allow you to use a function room for free, in return for the extra business you will bring to their venue.

Then you just need to create your first event in Meetup, which only takes a few minutes. You can also create an event on Facebook to promote the meeting (every little helps).

It might take a little while to get some traction, but before long your group will be flourishing. And as you are the organizer, you can promote your reviews any way you want. There’s no one to stop you!

Networking is a fantastic way to draw attention to what you do, so be sure to give it a try.
