Fly High with Flyers

Businesses have been using flyers to market their offerings for decades with considerable success. The method still works well today, and you can use it to promote your reviews, too. Flyers are cheap to produce and are a great way to get ‘real world’ exposure and distribution.

The first thing you will need to do is design your flyer. You can do this for free using a design tool like Canva, which has lots of flyer templates ready for you to use. Just pick one you like and edit it until you get a flyer that’s right for you.

If you don’t feel comfortable doing the design yourself, you can get a professional design done cheaply on any of the major freelance marketplaces. On Fiverr, for example, there are many great designers who will do the job for $10 or less.

Whether you design the flyer yourself or ask someone to do it for you, here are some tips to help you get the right result.

Intent: What’s the point of your flyer? What is the primary purpose behind all of your effort? These are essential questions when you’re formulating a handout.

Audience: To create a successful marketing strategy, you need to think about who you’re trying to reach with your flyer. Even go so far as to picture them in your mind and create an idealized customer profile. Who is that person? What graphics would they find appealing or aesthetically pleasing, based on their characteristics? Tailor your design to this perceived audience.

Timing: Think about things like upcoming holidays. These may affect what your audience is interested in and how they respond to your reviews.

Design Elements: You need bold, legible text paired with a show-stopping palette and a thoughtful graphic. A successful flyer catches attention, delivers essential information and makes an impression.

If you want to make the most cost-effective flyer, print on both sides. You could feature a review on one side and more information about what you do on the other.

The four main ways to distribute your flyers are to:

- hang them in public places

- pass them out physically

- keep a stack in a high-traffic area for passers-by to pick up

- distribute them house-to-house

- Ask cafes and restaurants to display your flyer

Alternatively, you can get other people to do the distribution for you. Once again, Fiverr is your friend. You can get flyers working for you almost anywhere, even in locations thousands of miles away.

With a great design, a strong intent, savvy timing, and the proper approval, your well-placed flyer can reach people beyond your local area. Flyers are time-tested as a marketing technique. They are easy to print, cost-effective, relatively long-lasting, and influential, so make the most of them!

Say it With Stickers

Stickers are another great way to get some additional exposure. For example, you can use a resource like Sticker Mule to print bumper stickers inexpensively. When they arrive, stick one or two on your car and ask your friends and family members to do the same.

You can also give them to people as a gift. Include them when you send birthday or Christmas cards, or give them out at any social event you attend. Everyone loves to get free stuff, so you may get good results this way.

Bumper stickers are a great place to start, but there are many other options. You can create stickers that are suitable for sticking on:

Laptops

Water bottles

Backpacks

Here’s a handy tip that’s guaranteed to get you more views. Ask the designer to include a QR code on the sticker. Then it’s easy for anyone to scan the code and load up your review right away. Nowadays, most people have QR scanners on their phones and know how to use them, so this can be a very effective strategy.

Flyers and stickers are proven marketing methods that can really work in your favor. So experiment with both and find what works best for you.
