Link-building is an important strategy that can turbocharge the results you get with your reviews. It can make all the difference in terms of ramping up your income. So how do you go about building the links you need? Let’s find out…
The first thing you will need to do is get your link. Once your write-up is published, you can view it in your web browser and copy the link from the address bar.
Copy the link and keep it handy for later. Now you are ready to go out and start finding links.
Once you have found some likely link prospects, all you need to do is email them or contact them on social media. Send them a link to your review and explain why they should link to you.
Here are some time-tested places to find people who may link to you. All of these have proven to be a goldmine for link builders.
This is the easiest place to start. Simply ask your friends, relatives, and colleagues to link to your reviews. Many of them will be happy to help you out, giving you an easy head start.
If they have a website or blog, that’s great—they can link to you from there. But they can also add links from their social media accounts with Facebook, Instagram, Tik-Tok, etc. Every link counts, so don’t be bashful...go ahead and ask.
There are over 600 million blogs in the world today, posting some 7.5 million blog posts every day. And each of these is an opportunity for you to win a link.
For our Squid Game example, you could contact blog owners who write about TV shows. To get started, just google ‘tv show blog.’ This brings up a massive list of bloggers who love to write about entertainment.
Scroll through the list and note all the ones that look promising. Then visit each blog and see if they accept comments. The easiest way to do this is to open a blog post and scroll down to the bottom.
If you see a section that says ‘Leave a Reply,’ ‘Add your Comment’ or something similar, you’re in! Enter a helpful comment, then include your link. Very often, your link will be approved automatically, and you will have a free link.
Another great way to get free visitors from blogs is through guest blogging. With this method, you offer to write a blog post for free in return for a backlink from the blog. The blogger gets bonus content, and you get a link at zero cost. Everybody wins!
Once again, you will start with a Google search. But this time, we will make the search a little more sophisticated. We will add “guest post” inside double quotes to tell people these words are essential to our search. So we will search for
tv blog “guest post”
In the results, you will see many blogs open to accepting guest posts from contributors.
Now visit the blog’s Contact page to find out how to get in touch. Send a message with a proposal for your guest post. Bloggers are always looking for extra content, so many of them will accept your request.
Then all you have to do is write your blog post and send it over. Don’t forget to include the link to your review, either in the blog post or the accompanying author bio.
This is one of the easiest ways to get links—and you can do it over and over again! When you join many sites, you will be given a profile page where you can add a link.
With Instagram, for example, you can edit your profile and add in any profile link you wish.
Many other social media sites allow you to add links, too, so make the most of those. You can also add a profile link in many other websites you may be a member of. These include:
- Forums
- Bulletin boards
- directories
These links are easy to obtain and can make a difference. Make the most of the opportunity and start leveling up your backlinks.
When writing your reviews, you may mention people who are associated with the product in some way. If you are reviewing a book, you are sure to mention the author, for example.
Make a list of people you mention in your reviews and try to find their contact information online. That’s often as easy as googling their name. For example, if you wanted to contact Tim Ferris, the author of The Four Hour Work Week, you could just search for:
tim ferriss “email address”
You would find his contact info right away.
Get in touch to say you have mentioned them in your review. They will often be delighted and will link back to you in return.
If you help people, they may want to help you in return. It’s just human nature to want to reciprocate a favor.
You can take advantage of this by helping people fix their websites. If you are reading a web page and you notice spelling or grammatical errors, make a note of the problem. Then contact the website owner (through their Contact page) and point out the issue.
You can also add a few lines mentioning your review and including a link. Many people will be happy to add your link to even things up. Reciprocity in action.
Question & Answer sites like Quora are very popular. They can be handy for link building, too. Your first step is to create an account with the site in question. You can then sign up for email alerts of topics of interest. Of course, you will choose matters relating to your reviews.
You will be notified when a relevant question comes up. You can then answer the question, including your link in the answer if appropriate. These Q&A sites have lots of authority, so a few good links from them can help you a lot.
If you want links the quick and easy way, you need to check out Fiverr. There you will find dozens of SEO experts ready to help you out for a small fee. Don’t worry; this doesn’t have to cost much. In fact, you get lots of good links for as little as $5.
You can also find many other SEO-related services on Fiverr, so this can be an invaluable resource.
Link building is a skill that’s well worth acquiring. Expertise in this area will really help you get more eyeballs on your reviews...and lead to a significant boost in your income.
